Dalhousie Meeting of Allies-lgbtq Athletes: Challenges and Successes
The winter term 2010 meeting of the Allies will be on March 11 from noon to 1:30 pm in room 307 of the SUB. The guest speakers will be Catherine Meade and Curtis Cartmill who have been involved in sport at the local, national, and international levels. Just back from the Olympic Games, Curtis and Catherine will discuss homophobia in sport and the impact it has had on lgbtq individuals competing in sport and the impact it has had on lgbtq individuals competing at recreational and elite levels. They will also discuss the response of lgbtq athletes to homophobia in mainstream sport as well as recent responses in mainstream sport to the presence of lgbtq athletes. Beverages and cookies will be provided.
